We are pleased to announce that, this July 2020, we completed the <\/span>integration of the Italian company Besana through the purchase of 51% of its share capital<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Spanish food company <\/span>Importaco<\/b><\/a> reached an agreement with the Italian company Besana to strengthen its focus on natural products, such as <\/span>hazelnuts, cashews, almonds<\/a>, peanuts<\/a> and seeds<\/b>, and thus consolidate its international business.<\/span><\/p>\n

With this operation, the Group strengthens its competitive position as <\/span>the leader in the European market for nuts and dried fruit<\/b>, with a presence in markets such as Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium, Germany, France, Poland and the Scandinavian countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Importaco and Besana are family companies<\/b> with over one hundred years of consolidated experience in the <\/span>nut industry<\/b>; they are both customer-oriented and focused on <\/span>healthy eating<\/b>, and their business model is based on <\/span>product quality<\/b>, <\/span>process efficiency<\/b> and <\/span>production capacity through their network of factories<\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Importaco distributes to the retail market in Spain<\/strong>, acting as a supplier to Mercadona. It is also present in the markets of <\/span>ingredients for the agro-food industry<\/a><\/b>, and in the <\/span>food service market for the hotel and restaurant industry<\/b>.<\/span> In these latter sectors, it is present through the <\/span>ITAC Professional<\/b><\/a> brand.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the integration, To\u00f1o Pons will be the company\u2019s President, and the Calcagni family will continue working in the company\u2019s management bodies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Besana <\/span>specialises in nuts, dried fruits and seeds<\/b>, with a strong <\/span>focus on quality and innovation<\/b> and a wide range of products and packaging, the result of its <\/span>leadership in R&D<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company mainly distributes to the retail sector, and has a strong presence in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Scandinavia and Eastern European countries, as well as Italy. The combination of two business models such as those of Importaco and Besana, \u201cconsolidates the leadership, in the European nuts and dried fruit business, of a Group with strong competitive advantages from the perspective of the integration of the value chain, the strength of its industrial fabric, and the potential for increased sales\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
